Improved body design impresses AirVenture

Official press release from Samson Sky:
Stronger tail retraction
Retracting the tail is simpler than before, and the changes will increase assembly speed and reduce maintenance. For example, a swinging boom is much easier to make than the rolling boom in the original design. It is swiveled, always connected and simply pinned when retracted or deployed. No adjustment required in case of misalignment. Swinging horizontals mimic swinging wings and should be just as reliable. When we first showed the world our pivoting wing at AirVenture in 2017, we ensured that the wing was continually moving throughout the week-long event. When we added it all up, we had used the wing swing for 10 years without a single failure and virtually no wear. We expect the same from the back swing.
Increased interior space
Alongside the aerodynamic and performance improvements, the interiors are also improved to allow the original design to have more space from side to side. More room for people, elbows, coffee cups – as usual! The front trunk or “frunk” is still large enough for rolling bags or travel golf club sets. Storage behind the seats has been somewhat limited, but there is still space for personal items. The side windows have been enlarged to provide better visibility and greater safety. We hire automotive designers to complete the interior and exterior design before making the molds, while working on the wings and tail which are already fixed in the design and are not subject to modification. The Eyes Forward display (functions as a digital instrument cluster for ground mode and changes to include critical aviation information for flight mode) is slightly revised to feature a new but familiar round dial instrument cluster, easy to read at a glance for most people. . We found that, as pleasing to the eye as futuristic strip displays are, the function in normal use requires a display that can be easily read and understood at a glance. We still plan to include driver-adjustable color palettes both to match interior choices and also to accommodate colorblind people. More information on this to come!
More pilots on the way
One misconception we’ve encountered is the idea that some people may not purchase a Switchblade because they need to obtain a private pilot certificate, or that becoming a pilot is difficult to achieve. Recent data sheds new light on this subject: over the past 10 years, the number of student pilots has increased by more than 2.5 times. This follows the announcement and the fact that we are retiring many aging airline pilots, and the lure of the salary and prestige of a commercial airline pilot has led to a wave of new pilots in training. The reason this is relevant is because it shows that if there is a reason to learn to fly, there are people willing to do it. You just need a good reason. Flying is not that hard to do, nor is it particularly difficult to achieve. You must commit and complete the training as a priority. The success rate then increases considerably and the cost of training decreases. Over the years, many people have told us that they would get their pilot’s certificate in order to own and use a Switchblade. Our marketing surveys of regional travelers (those taking trips of 200-500 miles) showed that 80% of people willing to pay the price of a Switchblade (and would spend a week at the factory to get that price) were also willing to obtain a pilot’s certificate in order to use the Switchblade to improve their lifestyle. This appears to be supported by the statistics on the increase in student pilots, and so we find it credible. Samson has embarked on the path of Switchblade pilot training and private pilot training, as part of a Switchblade-specific program. We encourage people to get their Switchblade and use it for pilot training, as this will cut the cost of pilot training in half. You also learn in the vehicle you plan to drive, which is really ideal. Much more efficient and comfortable than learning on one or more planes and then transitioning to the Switchblade later. We believe the Switchblade will be easier to learn and will incorporate additional safety features, not found on traditional training aircraft, that make flying safer for new pilots.

Investment opportunity open only to accredited investors
Samson has opened our first major fundraiser for a significant investment to put the Switchblade into production. This is called a Reg D Series A (first major fundraiser), and we are VERY pleased with the response and interest. This particular investment is reserved for qualified investors only due to the type of this increase. If you’ve ever wondered if you qualify as an accredited investor, you can view the requirements here:
